Info
This small island off the southwest coast of India is home to 20 million people who have endured unparalleled hardship.  Racked by civil war since the 1980s, on December 26, 2004 it became one of the countries most devastated by the Boxing Day Tsunami.  Once known as India’s pearl because of its natural beauty, Sri Lanka is now called India’s teardrop. As a result of the tsunami and civil unrest, Mariners has formed a partnership with an amazing local church in Sri Lanka.  Through our ministry partner we are providing the hope of Jesus Christ to abused and neglected young girls and boys, widows and those most in need. Due to the on-going civil war, trips are limited to the country at this time.  However, the country and ministry of Sri Lanka needs your help and we have several “at home” service activities for you to get involved with.  Volunteers are needed to help in the development of a Counseling Training Curriculum Program and Jewelry Micro Business.
